Dear Prospective Parents and Guardians, 

My name is Shelby Wirtz and I am pleased to introduce myself as the Center Director of L&L Academy and Preschool- Lakeview West!  

Experience and Education

I have always had an extraordinarily strong passion for guiding and teaching young children through their first years of life. I have been working with children for many years. I graduated from Illinois State University in May of 2015 where I majored in Speech-Language Pathology and also took courses in Early Childhood Education. In college, I enjoyed volunteering in preschool through fifth-grade classrooms where I had the wonderful opportunity to truly learn what it is like to be an early childhood educator.   

After graduating, I accepted a full-time nannying position where I even more so realized the importance of teaching and caring for children. In the Spring of 2016, I accepted my first teaching position as the lead teacher in a two-year-old classroom and that is when I knew I had found my passion. Starting my teaching career leading a two-year-old classroom has taught me more than I ever thought I could learn! In December 2017, I accepted a position with L&L Academy as the Lead Toddler Teacher at our Lakeview East location and shortly thereafter I transferred to our Infant and Toddler Center where I held the position of Center Director and Lead Toddler Teacher for two years. It has been such a rewarding experience working amongst such wonderful teachers and creating such strong relationships with all families at L&L.

As the Director at Lakeview West, I will strive to guide all teachers to be the best they can be and provide wonderful care and education in a safe and loving environment. I look forward to getting to know all families while keeping an open line of communication and to being a part of so many milestones during our children’s first years of life! It is wonderful to wake up every day and love what you do.
