The Power of Connection & Collaboration
Share
Dear L&L Family,
What an incredible second week of our Month of the Young Child! Our classrooms were absolutely buzzing with energy, creativity, and connection as we celebrated the nationally recognized NAYCE Week of the Young Child. It was a week filled with music, movement, collaboration, creativity, and meaningful family moments, and truly a beautiful reflection of what early childhood learning is all about!
Each day brought something special. Music Monday filled our halls with singing, dancing, rhythm, and joy as children explored sound and expression in so many playful ways. Tasty Tuesday invited hands-on exploration with food, mixing, tasting, and discovering where our food comes from while building early math and science skills. On Work Together Wednesday, we saw incredible teamwork as children collaborated on building projects, problem-solving activities, and group creations, strengthening both social and cognitive development. Artsy Thursday gave children the freedom to create, explore materials, and express themselves through process-based art, each masterpiece a reflection of their unique ideas and imagination. And we are wrapping up the week on such a special note with Family Friday, we welcomed many of you into our classrooms and celebrated the powerful partnership between school and home. Thank you for showing up, engaging, and sharing in these meaningful moments! Your presence truly makes a difference!
As we reflected on this week, one theme stood out so clearly across all of these experiences: the power of connection and collaboration.
In early childhood, collaboration is so much more than just “working together.” It is how children learn to share ideas and listen to others, navigate different perspectives, solve problems as a team, build empathy and understanding, and develop communication and social skills to last them a lifetime.
Whether children are building a tower together, creating a group art piece, or simply deciding who gets the next turn, they are learning essential life skills that will support them far beyond the classroom.
At L&L, collaboration is intentionally woven into our daily experiences with the children. This past week especially, we saw it come to life in so many beautiful ways: our children worked side by side to build and create; they shared materials and ideas during art and sensory play; engaged in group discussions and storytelling; supported one another through challenges and celebrated successes together. Our teachers guide these interactions with care each day, helping children use their words, take turns, express feelings, and find solutions together. These are the moments where friendships deepen, and the true sense of community that we value so much is built.
You can continue nurturing these important skills at home in simple, yet meaningful ways:
· Encourage teamwork. Invite your child to help with small tasks like cooking, cleaning up, or setting the table together.
· Practice turn-taking. Board games, shared toys, and even conversations help children learn patience and fairness.
· Model communication. Use language like, “Let’s figure this out together” or “What do you think we should do?”
· Celebrate shared success. Acknowledge moments when your child works well with others, “You and your friend built that together!”
· Create opportunities for play with others. Playdates, sibling interactions, or group activities all support social learning.
Here are some wonderful books that celebrate teamwork, friendship, and working together:

How You Can Join the MOTYC Celebration at School
One of the most meaningful parts of the MOTYC is the opportunity to bring our school community even closer together. As you all know, we love opening our doors and creating moments for families to step into your child’s world, because there is nothing more special than seeing their pride when they get to share their classroom with you.
Throughout the month, there will be a variety of ways for you to participate:
- Join us for special themed days like Family Friday, or drop off in your PJs during Pajama Day
- Participate in classroom activities whenever your schedule allows it: whether it’s reading a story, joining a small group activity, or simply observing the day in action
- Engage in our community celebrations, including Donuts at Drop-Off and Popsicles at Pick-Up!
- Help your child prepare for dress-up days, and match the spirit with your own outfit, bringing a little extra fun and excitement into their school day
Even the smallest moments, like walking into the classroom together, seeing their artwork displayed, or sharing a quick activity, can have a big impact on your child’s sense of belonging and pride! We truly value the partnership we share with our families any day of the year, but this month is a beautiful reminder that when school and home come together, this is when children really thrive. Thank you for being such an important part of our L&L community. The laughter, curiosity, imagination, and joy we see each day are constant reminders of why this work matters so deeply.
We can’t wait to celebrate next month with you!
