We are very excited to announce we will be expanding our provisions and offering Kindergarten for the upcoming 2020/21 school year in Lakeview and Lincoln Park! At L&L Academy, we are committed to providing our children with a productive learning environment that stimulates and challenges them to grow mentally, emotionally, socially, and physically. With a carefully balanced and composed curriculum based on the Illinois State Standards for Kindergarten and First Grade, we prepare our students for continued academic success.
Learning to read and write is achieved by developing fundamental skills such as concepts of print, phonemic awareness, phonics, and word recognition. These skills are not only taught, but incorporated in our daily routine.
Our children learn mathematical concepts through a hands-on approach. We explore number concepts including counting, addition, subtraction, cardinality, geometric shapes, charts, measurements and the ability to collect and analyze data.
Science is taught through activities that stimulate our children's innate curiosity. Children learn through investigation, exploration, experimentation, and observation.
Social Studies focuses on providing our children with an understanding of our community, social relationships, and civic responsibilities. Our children learn about the diversity of cultures around the world.
Physical Education gives our students an opportunity to strengthen their fine and gross motor skills through various games and activities. This is pivotal in developing spatial awareness and the ability to work and play well with others.
Self- awareness, self-management, relationship skills, and responsible decision making are all integral traits necessary for a child's developmental and academic success. In order to teach these skills, we incorporate activities that help our children communicate their feelings and promote positive mental health.
